is an ongoing project which was created to support more sustainable way of living. Woodpunks is about constant change, adaptation and never ending experiment. Veronika Neumanova
is a Czech artist currently based in Fremantle/Walyalup.
Born in the Czech Republic in 1985, Neumanova started her studies at Sculpture studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and completed her Master’s degree in Arts at Conceptual Studio at the Academy of Fine arts in Prague. In 2007 Neumanova studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
Born during the communism era and growing up in post revolution times, her work often portrays a melancholic atmosphere of soviet suburbs and hiden traumas. Neumanova primarily uses the classic language of art symbolism to explore its new meanings in the post-modern world and invites viewers to use their own personal experience for interpretation of her work.
Neumanova's work is influenced by comic books, outsider art, classic art and popular culture.
